CollectGive ("we," "us," "our") operates collectgive.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.
Our Core Promise
CollectGive is built on a fundamental commitment: your data belongs to you, not to advertisers. We do not track you across the web, serve ads, sell your data, or share your information with anyone other than the single contractor you are matched with.
- Zero cookies — we do not set tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies
- Zero tracking pixels — no Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or retargeting scripts
- Zero data brokers — your information is never sold, rented, or shared with data aggregators
- Zero ad networks — we do not participate in Google Ads, Meta Ads, or any remarketing platform
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you submit a service request through our form, we collect:
- Name — to identify you to the matched contractor
- Phone number — to connect you with the contractor and send follow-up messages
- ZIP code — to match you with a contractor in your area
- Service description (optional) — to help the contractor understand your needs
When you use the Quote Checker, we collect the service type and quoted price you enter. If you optionally provide a contractor name, we collect that as well. This data is stored as unverified community pricing intelligence and is never associated with your identity.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Email address (not required)
- Browsing history or clickstream data
- Device fingerprints
- Location data beyond your ZIP code
- Social media profiles
- Financial or payment information from homeowners (contractors handle billing directly)
Automatically Collected Information
Our server logs record your IP address for rate limiting and abuse prevention only. IP addresses are not stored permanently, are not associated with your service request, and are never shared with third parties. We do not use this information for analytics, advertising, or profiling.
How We Use Your Information
- To match you with a contractor — your name, phone, ZIP, and service description are shared with exactly one vetted contractor. Never with multiple contractors, never with lead aggregators, never with ad networks.
- To send you SMS messages — we send up to 3 text messages per service request (see SMS Policy below).
- To improve pricing accuracy — if you reply to our follow-up SMS with a quoted price, that price is added to our Cost Index as a community-reported data point. The price is associated with the service type and Denver Metro area, never with your name or phone number in the public index.
- To record charitable donations — $5 is donated to a verified nonprofit when you verify your completed service. The donation record includes the service type and date, not your personal information.
- To prevent abuse — your phone number and IP address are checked against rate limits and fraud detection systems to prevent spam and bot submissions.
SMS Communications
When you provide your phone number through our service request form or Claim Your Home form, you consent to receive SMS messages from CollectGive. These messages include:
- Service request confirmations — confirms your request has been received and provides details
- Contractor match notifications — tells you which contractor was matched and how to reach them
- One-time verification codes (OTP) — if phone verification is enabled, a code to verify your number
- Service follow-up and verification prompts — sent after your service, asking how it went and inviting you to verify the completed work
- Optional monthly home maintenance briefs — if you claim your home, periodic reminders about system maintenance
Message frequency varies based on your service activity. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of all SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for support. Your phone number is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
We use Twilio as our SMS service provider. Twilio processes your phone number to deliver messages. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.
Who We Share Your Data With
Your Matched Contractor (one, and only one)
When you submit a service request, your name, phone number, ZIP code, and service description are shared with exactly one vetted, insured contractor in your area. The contractor uses this information solely to contact you about the service you requested. We do not share your information with multiple contractors, lead generation networks, or any other business.
Service Providers
We use the following service providers to operate CollectGive:
- Supabase (database hosting) — stores your service request data. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified. supabase.com/privacy
- Twilio (SMS delivery) — processes your phone number to send text messages. twilio.com/legal/privacy
- Stripe (payment processing for contractors only) — does not process homeowner payment data. stripe.com/privacy
These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
We Never Share With
- Advertising networks (Google, Meta, etc.)
- Data brokers or aggregators
- Lead generation platforms (Angi, Thumbtack, Modernize, etc.)
- Marketing automation platforms
- Any other contractors beyond your single match
Public Pricing Data
CollectGive publishes aggregated, anonymized home service pricing data through our website, API, and MCP server. This data includes average costs, price ranges, and trend information for home services in the Denver Metro area. No personal information is included in public pricing data. All published prices are aggregate statistics derived from verified completed jobs, not individual quotes or transactions.
Data Retention
- Service requests — retained for the active life of the platform to maintain pricing accuracy and audit trail for charitable donations.
- Phone numbers — retained as part of the service request record. If you request deletion, we will anonymize your phone number within 30 days.
- IP addresses — retained in rate limiting systems for a maximum of 24 hours, then automatically purged.
- Quote Checker submissions — retained indefinitely as anonymous pricing intelligence. These records contain only the service type, quoted price, and optional contractor name — no personal information.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — contact us to receive a copy of the information we hold about you
- Delete your data — contact us and we will anonymize your personal information within 30 days
- Opt out of SMS — reply STOP to any text message
- Correct your data — contact us if any information we hold is inaccurate
Colorado residents have additional rights under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), including the right to opt out of the sale of personal data. CollectGive does not sell personal data, so this right is already satisfied by default.
Children's Privacy
CollectGive is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted a service request, please contact us and we will delete the information promptly.
Security
We protect your data using industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls on our database, rate limiting, and automated fraud detection. However, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a unique phone number and not share sensitive financial information through our forms.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of CollectGive after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
